What was once the properties of Cinemagic on Route 1 in Saco and County Road in Westbrook will now be run by Apple Cinemas based in the Boston area.
The founder of Apple Cinemas, Jegan Gomangalam, said that staff members are currently being hired for the two locations and is encouraging former employees to also apply for any of the open positions. Banner printing is often used to post announcements of such job openings to the community. Local Print shops may also be used to create Flyers and other printed materials with schedules, movie listings, and prices once such theaters are opened.
Gomangalam said that first-run, mainstream movies will be shown at the theaters. At some point, more food options may be added as well as renovations to the properties to be made. Gomangalam added that the demand for movies in the Portland area seems to be strong, expressing excitement about coming to the Maine market. She said that the demand for movie theaters seems to be strong in Maine, particularly in the Portland area as she has been watching the movie-going public over the past few months.
Apple Cinemas currently operates seven theaters, one in Cambridge, Massachusetts and the other six in Connecticut. It has been running movie theaters since 2013 and is expecting to grow the number of theaters it operates to at least 12.
