The inaugural Relay for Life of Southern Maine will be held later this month at the Kippy Mitchell Sports Center in Biddeford.
Residents of nearby Saco who want to help the American Cancer Society (ACS) may want to participate in this event. In addition, such events and their fundraising efforts are often promoted throughout a region with poster printing.
Relay for Life is the largest grassroots fundraising movement in the world. It rallies communities to remember those who have lost their lives to cancer, and to celebrate those who have survived the disease. It is an opportunity to raise funds by joining together with family, friends, neighbors, and the community.
Senior event support manager for the ACS, Diane Nicholson, expressed her gratitude to the South Maine community and the sponsors of the event— Saco & Biddeford Savings Bank, New England Cancer Specialists, MaineHealth, and the town of Scarborough – for making this event possible. Nicholson added that as well as ceremonies to celebrate survivors, the event will feature games, activities, music, and food.
Funds raised from this event will enable the ACS to continue its efforts in fighting cancer, including research and the development of breakthrough therapies, helping to provide access to treatment, and building supportive communities.
This race will be held beginning at 4:00 pm on Saturday, June 25.
