The new health center will officially be open to new patients two days after a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, August 16. Constructing the health center cost $4m and it was built on land donated by Mount St. Mary’s University. The facility is about the same size as the Frederick Health Toll House located on West Seventh Street. The new building will also host the university’s student health center. Printing services, such as banner printing, can be used for a ribbon-cutting ceremony like this.
The general public will be able to access the facilities here. The services slated to be provided here include urgent care, primary care, sports rehabilitation, and physical therapy. The staff will be made up of 25 Frederick Health specialists, healthcare providers, and nurses.
This is the 23rd facility managed by Frederick Health and the first one in Emmitsburg. Frederick Health also manages facilities in Walkersville, Urbana, Myersville and Mount Airy. When speaking about the new facility, Tim O’Donnell, who is the Emmitsburg Commissioner, said:
“In a perfect world, the health center would have been constructed in town, rather than across from the Mount. But nevertheless, it is a benefit to the whole community.”
O’Donnell also mentioned how the area’s population is growing steadily and it is beneficial for the community that the region’s medical capacity is keeping up.
