Families from the Frederick area are invited to embrace their creative talents at an upcoming community event.
This weekend, the city's Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center will be holding its Art Carnival for the fourth consecutive year. Professional brochure printers may have been contacted to produce informational materials for the occasion.
Attendees of all ages will be able to participate in a variety of craft projects. They can expect to make colorful bracelets and necklaces out of macaroni noodles and beads, create sculptures out of Styrofoam, and paint their own pottery. Experienced artists will be on hand to lead these activities. The carnival will also include demonstrations on such crafts as glassblowing and quilting.
Guests will be able to purchase snacks from the building's cafe and watch family-friendly films throughout the afternoon. They will be free to explore the venue's current exhibits as well.
Those who attend the event will also be able to speak with this year's summer art camp leaders. Children who enroll in Delaplaine's popular summer programs will enjoy some of the same activities that will be available during the carnival. These seasonal classes, which begin in June and end in August, are already filling quickly.
The Art Carnival is scheduled for Saturday, March 15 and will run from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm. There will be no charge for admission.
The museum is located at 40 South Carroll Street.
