Along with the New York Yacht Club, the Annapolis Yacht Club is featuring Offshore Racing Congress (ORC) rating rules to determine boating handicaps for races. Export Dobbs Davis will provide a seminar in February to discuss how the system works and provide information to boat owners, race officials and others in the industry as to how the rating is obtained.
Using local media, the Annapolis Yacht Club provides information to residents on this seminar and many other upcoming events at their club. Other ways businesses can spread the word of upcoming events is through the use of Banners, Flyers and Direct Mail printing.
The system is based on a Velocity Prediction Program (VPP), which provides the handicaps for the variety of boat types used in races around the world. Hundreds of different types of boats are evaluated and the ORC issues thousands of certificates annually.
The system is recognized by World Sailing and provides scoring options for accurate results. World Sailing conducts many championships including regional, continental and world events.
The seminar will be held at the Annapolis Yacht Clubs clubhouse on February 4th at 10:00am. The clubhouse is located at 12 Dock St. The seminar is tailored to sailors and others in the boat racing community but anyone is welcome to attend. Registration is required for the event and those wishing to attend need to call the club’s front desk directly to reserve their space.
