Annapolis gardeners with an eye towards the more favorable growing conditions later in the year may want to save the date for a special fall horticultural market.
Cape Conservation Corps will once again be holding its Native Plant Fest and Sale this coming September, since early autumn can be a great time to install shrubs and perennials. It will help to create yards that are welcoming to a wide variety of wildlife, and there will be thousands of items to choose from.
Shoppers will be able to browse through choices for sun, shade, or a mix of the two. While the plants may not be as showy as their typical garden cousins, they offer benefits introduced species do not. There will be experts available to answer questions and lend a hand when choosing which item to buy, and they can also offer tips for plant care, siting, and other cultural considerations.
Everyone at the sale is advised to bring a collapsible wagon or cart to carry their purchases. Print shops can prepare plant checklists paired with promotional Pens to hand out to those who attend a market or sales event, helping them remember who items they need.
The annual Fall Native Plant Fest & Sale will be on offer on September 21 at 1223 Riverbay Road. It will be open from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm.
