Annapolis area workshop to explore backyard chickens

Those who call the Annapolis area home and want to be more sustainable are encouraged to attend an event that will explore the joy and challenges of backyard chickens.

Davidsonville’s Homestead Gardens has made plans to host an information session in advance of the arrival of its spring chick delivery. It noted that these baby birds will arrive in late March, and the workshop will help to make sure they will be happy in their new homes.

The facilitator will address several topics related to chicken ownership, and the attendees can raise concerns and ask questions. It will cover the basics of poultry husbandry, and it will run for one hour. All those who are interested are asked to sign up ahead of time, and there is no fee to participate. When registering, everyone will be asked how many seats will be required.

Many people are becoming interested in becoming more sustainable, and animal husbandry workshops may help to point the way. A poster printing company will have an assortment of marketing materials that often prove to be useful in promoting an activity to the public.

This introduction to the art of raising chickens is set to be held on February 27, starting at 1:30 pm. The organizers can be reached by calling 443-607-1934 or by visiting the Homestead Gardens website.
