Boston is famous for the Boston Marathon, but West Roxbury has a race of its own scheduled as well.
The 30th Annual Corrib Classic 5K is a popular event and a way to get the summer off to an active start. It is also a traditional fundraiser.
Race day is Sunday, June 2 this year, with the race starting at 12.00 pm. The entry fee is $35, although this will increase on June 1. There is also a free Kids’ Run the same day, beginning at 10.00 am. This run is limited to children ages 4-12, and registration can be completed on site.
The race will be held at Billings Field on Lagrange Street. Registration is open now for this popular event, and will stay open until the beginning of the race. Participants can pick up their bibs starting at 10.00 am on race day, on the field. Those who prefer to get their bibs early may pick them up on Saturday, June 1, between 3.00 pm and 6.00 pm, at the Corrib Pub & Restaurant in West Roxbury. The first 500 runners to register will receive a T-shirt.
Everyone is encouraged to stay after the race and enjoy food and music. The money raised from the race will go to support local charities. When organizers create events like this, they will often work with regional banner printing services to create weather-resistant signage to mark the course.
