Non-profit organization to fundraise for families
The Compassionate Friends of North Central Massachusetts will host a fundraising walk, with the event taking place in Leominster next month.
The Compassionate Friends is a non-profit organization founded in England 50 years ago. Its mission is to support families who have lost a loved one. Since its inception, the organization has expanded its operations and now has chapters all across the United States, and in Guam and Puerto Rico.
The North Central Massachusetts branch is one of these chapters, and provides bereavement support for cities like Leominster and Fitchburg. The upcoming walk is one of the numerous fundraising events the chapter holds throughout the year. Titled “A Walk to Remember,” the event will help fundraise for the chapter’s different forms of bereavement support, which includes help groups, meetings, literature, and encouragement.
Anyone interested in supporting the cause can help by donating online or by becoming a fundraiser. The current goal for the fundraiser is $5,000. Once the fundraiser nears its end, participants can come together for the walk in Leominster. For events like these, participants can utilize printing services to bring materials like signs, which can be used to show support for the fundraiser’s cause.
The walk itself will take place on Saturday, October 2 at Sholan Farms, starting at 2:30 pm. Participants can find the farm at 1125 Pleasant Street.
