Fitchburg workshop introduces woodcarving techniques

Woodcarving is a hobby that can be used to produce a wide variety of useful objects, and a Fitchburg activity will soon be the teaching the basics of this popular craft.

Thirst Robot Brewing Company has scheduled an event that will provide an introduction to woodcarving that will see attendees craft their own wooden spoon to keep. These functional objects should be finished by the time the class wraps up, and while the tools will be supplied, everyone should bring a sturdy pair of leather gloves.

The activity will begin with the learners finding out how to sharpen their cutting blade, and safety will be front and center. The basic carving techniques will then be taught, and everyone will receive a grounding in the types of tools used and how to look after their spoon so it will keep on looking great. Tips for sourcing wood in the local area will be shared. Everyone is advised to arrive early so they can purchase drinks and a bite to eat while they meet the other attendees.

A workshop that involves working with sharp tools may require special safety waivers and other documents. These can be prepared by Stationery printers

Thirsty Robot Brewing will be hosting this woodcarving introduction on Wednesday, August 13. Tickets are $35, and the activity is scheduled to start at 6:30 pm.
