Fitchburg folks invited to create summer container gardens

In Fitchburg, the dog days of summer may be hot and dry, but the container gardens crafted in an upcoming area workshop will be able to tackle these conditions.

The crew at Mahoney’s Garden Center will be running a make-and-take class that will teach how to prepare a heat-tolerant planter. It will be hands-on, and may serve as an introduction to those new to gardening, and a refresher for seasoned green thumbs.

The facilitators for the session will supply full instruction, including tips for choosing plants that cope well in dry conditions. There will be two design options to choose from, and a variety of species and cultivars will be used. The pot will be 15 inches in diameter, and a soil blend suitable for container growing will also be provided. Everyone can take home thier creation at the end of the class.

Summer is a popular time for garden-themed activities, and Stationery printers can provide materials that may help the attendees to make the most of an experience. These can range from plant check lists, tags and information pages to paper seed-saving Envelopes.

Mahoney’s Garden Center in Chelmsford will be helping people to create pretty container gardens on Saturday, July 12. Anyone who would like to reserve a seat can do so through its online listing.
