Halloween comes to Marblehead

The Jeremiah Lee Mansion in Marblehead, just a short distance from Beverly, is hosting two Halloween-related events next week.

The first is the annual Pumpkin Decorating Workshop. Children between the ages of two and ten are invited to create their own pumpkin ghoul or goblin. There is a cost to attend this workshop and reservations and prepayment are required. The fee covers a pumpkin, decorating supplies, pumpkin stories, and a snack.

There will be two sessions. The first one is for children ages two through four from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. The children must be accompanied by an adult. The second session is from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm and is for children ages five through ten. Both sessions are limited to 25 children and will be on October 28.

The second event is the Annual Marblehead Museum Pumpkin Illumination, which is presented in collaboration with the Marblehead Family Fund and scheduled with the town-wide Trick or Treat Night. People can drop off carved and decorated pumpkins, which will be judged by town judges in various categories, which include smallest, largest, scariest, best carved, and most creative, among others.

Viewing of the pumpkins will be on October 30 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Flyer printing may have been used by the Museum and the Marblehead Family Fund to encourage participation from the town in the event, and its proceeds will benefit the playground projects of the Fund and educational programs of the Museum.
