Beverly to gain new startup company

A new high-tech start-up is being launched at the Dunham Ridge business campus in Beverly, by the one-time Microsoft chief software architect.

The creator of the 1980s software Lotus Notes, and the chief of software for Bill Gates, Ray Ozzie will be at the office park run by Cummings Properties in a space that spans close to 5,000 square feet. The company, to be called Blues Wireless, will enable everything from water quality monitors to refrigerators to be monitored online with the help of an embedded microchip that will connect to the cellular network of AT&T. This allows users to control such devices from any location.

Stationery printers are often needed when businesses get started, as there is typically a need for Letterheads, Business Cards, and other promotional materials.

Ozzie said that Dunham Ridge was ideal as it has a good mix of both general and specific engineering workspace, and the commute to and from Boston is straightforward. He added that Cummings spent the time needed to understand the nature of the business and offered additional flexibility in the space.

Steve Drohosky, Cummings’ Vice President, said Ozzie’s decision to expand his operation in Boston with another facility at Dunham Ridge demonstrates how much the region is appealing to major companies in the Boston area. There is over two million square feet of office space at Dunham Ridge, which itself covers 54 acres.
