Funds for the construction of a new middle school were recently approved by the Beverly City Council.
The cost for the new school is budgeted to be $109.211m. About $60 million of that cost will be paid for by the City, while the state will cover the balance. The Massachusetts School Building Authority will vote today on the exact amount that it will pay for the school.
The former Mayor of Beverly, Bill Scanlon, was thanked by Paul Guanci, President of the City Council, for starting the project, and the current Mayor Mike Cahill for seeing it come to fruition.
The proposed building will be 231,509 square feet in size and four stories tall so that it can accommodate 1,395 students in grades five through eight. It will be built on the current site of the existing Memorial School Building, which will be vacated and demolished early on in the project. The project manager is Heery International and the design firm is Ai3 Architects.
The City of Beverly plans to keep the community informed of the progress of the project by means of its website, and also by using local Print companies, which can Print Flyers and other materials that can be mailed to residents on a periodic basis.
The new middle school is expected to be open for students in the fall of 2018 if everything goes as planned.Get a Free Quote for Flyers Get a Free Quote for Print
