Fraen Corporation of Reading and Acera LLC, based out of the Cummings Center in Beverly, have developed a partnership to manufacture an innovative face protection device.
Called CapShield, the device protects medical personnel, restaurant workers, delivery personnel, and those whose jobs necessitate coming in close contact with others. It easily attaches to the bill of most baseball caps and is a clear barrier that prevents droplets coming in contact with the face. A visor clip enables it to attach to the front of the cap bill, and from the clip is a see-through plastic shield that provides full coverage of the face. Brochure printing can be used to provide more details about such devices and their benefits.
Thomas Root, president of Acera, said that this seemed a natural solution for protective head gear as so many people wear baseball caps. He added that the device can be used with any standard baseball cap and the brim and the cap are integral to the spray protection.
The two companies can produce 20,000 shields and clips per week. Root expects that the demand for CapShields will increase over time as certain medical professionals, such as dentists and ear, nose, and throat doctors are requesting a plastic version of the cap. He expects that such a version of the device will be on the market soon.
