Beverly becomes home to unique butcher shop

Roberto Alonzo recently opened Eva’s Farm Organic Butcher Shop in Beverly, and another shop in nearby Marblehead.

Alonzo grew up in the butchering business and ran a successful butcher shop for a decade in his native Argentina. He then went to work at Hannaford and Market Basket after moving to the United States, specializing in their meat sections.

Once he was diagnosed with celiac disease and became unable to consume processed meats, he decided to buy livestock directly from farms with products he felt certain he would be able to eat.

Consequently, his new stores offer various meats from animals cared for on small sustainable farms. The animals eat grasses that are not sprayed with pesticides and are not treated with antibiotics or hormones.

Alonzo said that not only do these animals produce healthy and flavorsome meat, eggs, and milk, but they are also local to the area, coming from within a 400-mile radius of his locations.

The Eva’s Farm stores, which are named after his daughter, carry pork, fish, turkey, and chicken and more exotic items such as goat, rabbit, and duck. Alonzo can sell cuts not typically found at the supermarket and also offers milk, eggs, and a selection of grocery items.

Alonzo might benefit from a variety of printed marketing services to promote his new butcher shops.
