Florence sets safe Halloween haven for kids

The City of Florence is once again creating a fun and safe atmosphere for children and families at its Halloween Night Out.

The event is an alternative to the traditional outdoor trick or treating where children go door-to-door. Halloween Night Out features entertainment such as mascots and magicians and treats. Admission is free, and the event is for children 12 and under. It is designed to give families a controlled safe environment to celebrate all things spooky and ghoulish.

Everything takes place indoors, so the weather will not spoit it, and children's costume. It also gives kids another opportunity (other than Halloween itself) to show off their costumes. Florence's official outdoor Halloween Trick-or-Treat hours are Thursday, October 31 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

City departments and local businesses will be on hand at designated ‘Spooky Stations’ to interact with the little ones. Right now the City of Florence is calling on local businesses and organizations to become sponsors. Sponsors will have their names mentioned during the event and for those that have carried out banner printing, Banners are asked to be ready and dropped off at the event location by Friday, October 18.

The City of Florence Halloween Night Out takes place on Tuesday, October 29, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Florence Government Center, 8100 Ewing Boulevard in Florence.
