The event raises money for the Collinsworth Cause, whose mission is:
“to improve the lives of spinal cord injured survivors”.
There is a $90 fee to participate. It includes a green fee, a cart rental, lunch, three drinks and a coozie to keep the drinks cold. The winner splits the pot with the charity. There are also raffles and prizes during the day.
The Collinsworth Cause is named after Adam Collinsworth, a former star linebacker at Scott High School and Thomas More College in Crestivew Hills, KY.
Collinsworth was paralyzed when he broke two vertebrae while diving into a swimming pool in 1998.
He defied the odds. Doctors said he would need a ventilator the breath for the rest of his life and that he would probably never speak again. Through dogged effort, Collinsworth regained ability to speak and breath on his own. Amazingly, despite being confined to a wheelchair, he went on to become the linebacker coach for the Ryle High School Raiders.
Now the golf tournament raises money to help others like Collinsworth. Events such as this one can use banner printing and other printing services for customized Signs and lunch Menus.
The Collinsworth Cause 2020 Golf Outing is scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 13 at the Boone Links Golf Course, 19 Clubhouse Drive in Florence. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. There is a shotgun start at 1 p.m.
