An effective way to control the population of unwanted cats and dogs is to offer low-cost or free spay and neuter programs, and an upcoming Florence fundraiser will help the SPCA to offer this service.
The Florence Lions Club is set to welcome the return of the Quarter Auction, which is one of the funding streams for programming that spays and neuters cats and dogs. It is intended to be a fun experience, and the items on the block include low-cost donated items for both pets and people.
There is enough space at the venue for up to 125 bidders, and everyone will have a chance to place their bids. Admission is free, and paddles can be purchased for $2. There will also be a silent auction and even-split draw, and food, wine, and other beverages can be purchased on site, courtesy of the Lions Club. NKY Women Entrepreneurs will add their group to the occasion, and will have direct sales booths set up by its membership.
Spreading the word about an event like this to the community may help to ensure it will be a success. These can also help to encourage local businesses to donate merchandise or other gifts in kind, and a poster printing company will have ideas for promoting an activity.
Friends of the Shelter, Inc. has made arrangements to host this special fundraiser on October 14. The doors will open at 6:15 pm.
