An initiative by the Florence Police Department is aimed at giving residents a true look at the daily lives of the local boys in the blue. Many guests might be surprised to find that it is nothing like what they see on crime TV shows.
Applications are now being accepted for the 2020 Florence Police Citizen's Academy. This eight-week course will give the citizens of Florence a better understanding of how their local police department operates.
Topics covered over the duration of the course include SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics), traffic laws, search and seizure laws, how the police investigate illegal drug cases, accident reconstruction and processing crime scenes, as well as live demonstration from the four-legged members of the Florence Police K9 Unit.
Courses and classes such as these can benefit from professional printing services for reading and learning materials, as well as informational Brochures and hand-outs. The course is designed to give the citizenry a more realistic expectation when it comes to what people demand from the police services.
The deadline for applications is March 2. People can download the application form on the City of Florence website. Anyone with a felony conviction is prohibited from attending.
The 2020 Florence Police Citizen's Academy begins Wednesday, March 11 and will continue every Wednesday until the final class on April 29.
