Empty Florence space coming alive with new retailer

HomeBuys is filling the void left by Toys R Us in the Florence Plaza.

The discount retailer is unveiling its first Kentucky store in Florence with an official grand opening later this month.

HomeBuys has been expanding its Ohio operations to other states as the popularity of its discount-price retail model grows. It first opened in 2015.

The retail space in the Florence Plaza at 7660 Connector Dr. has sat empty for months after the giant toy retailer Toys R Us filed for bankruptcy in the spring of 2018, closing hundreds of its stores across the United States and Canada.

The closing put dozens out of work in Florence, and it is hoped this new store will help recover those job losses.

The official grand opening ceremony is slated for August 28, 2019, after a soft-opening was held in late July. The grand opening was originally set for August 27 but has been rescheduled.

HomeBuys sells brand names, but they are close-out items from other big box stores that it then sells at discounted prices. It means the inventory changes quickly and shoppers are promised new deals every visit.

Events like these are perfect opportunities to use banner printing to advertise the event and create a celebratory atmosphere.

The Florence opening coincides with another HomeBuys opening in Cincinnati, Ohio, in the Ridgewater Plaza at 3240 Highland Ave. next to Lowe’s.
