Overland Park plans Fourth of July festivities

An Overland Park venue that provides a step back in time to the early part of the 20th Century will be celebrating the Fourth of July with an event for the whole family.

Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead offers a taste of what life was like on a Kansas farm 100 years ago, and the festivities it has planned in honor of the 4th will be filled with old-fashioned fun. Admission is $3 each, but those aged two and under are welcome to enter for free.

The list of activities in the works includes live performances of traditional tunes, and everyone can tap their toes and sing along. Those who would like to put their talent to the test can try their luck in the pig calling competition, which is likely to be fun for both the participants and spectators. A bike, wagon, and scooter parade will be on show, and a cake walk, games, and a lesson in flag etiquette will round out the occasion.

Communities across America often celebrate Independence Day in their own way. Banner printing companies will be happy to help take care of providing decor and signage for a special event.

Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead will be wishing America a happy birthday on Thursday, July 4. Everyone is invited, and the festivities are set to get started at 9:00 am at 13800 Switzer Road.
