Overland Park area aquarium to dive into September
Spongebob Squarepants and his under-the-sea friends are the hosts for a special family-friendly adventure at an Overland Park area venue, and there will be lots of themed exhibits to explore.
The Spongebob Squarepants animated series, which was originally created and developed by marine biologist Stephen Hillenburg , provided the inspiration for Kansas City Zoo and Aquarium’s Act Like a Sponge event, which is running until mid-September. They will take place on Saturdays, and there will be lots of hands-on fun.
The excitement will get started even before the Zoo’s general admission opening, as episodes of the series will be screened in the venue’s Beastro Lobby Auditorium. This theater is air conditioned, and once the exhibits open, families will be able to try their hands at a scavenger hunt. They will also learn about a variety of sea creatures and the importance of covering their marine habitats. The goal is to make environmental stewardship fun, and all ages are welcome.
A zoo, museum or other facility that organizes themed events for the public can order decor, maps, draw prizes, and other materials from a local printing services company. These can include photos, as well as interesting facts about the items on exhibit.
The Act Like a Sponge event began last Sunday and runs until September 15. The Zoo’s official opening time is 9:30 am.
