Kansas City's Plaza III steakhouse finds new Overland Park home

Last month, one of Kansas City' longest-running steakhouses shuttered its doors on Country Club Plaza, but fine dining fans need not worry for long as the Plaza III the Steakhouse will return, this time in a new location in Overland Park.

Haddad Restaurant Group, the owners of Plaza III, have leased land at 12631 Metcalf Ave, including the former House of Denmark building.

Explaining the change, Plaza III's website states that:

"We evaluated our footprint of the Country Club Plaza location and have determined that our clientele will be better served by smaller, neighborhood-oriented location(s)."

The area in Overland Park, close to a shopping center and major office building, is just such a location. There will likely be an advertising blitz to get the word out, which could include tools like social media, flyer printing, local broadcasting, and poster printing.

Plaza III was a Kansas City fixture, having spent 54 years at its previous location. Owners have suggested that the menu from the old restaurant will largely be kept intact when the Overland Park location opens in early 2019. If so, visitors will have plenty of old-school fine-dining options, from the titular steak to filet mignon to souffles. It could therefore become a destination for Overland Park business lunches, as well as romantic nights out.
