Cultural festival returns to Overland Park
The 53rd annual Greek Festival is taking place in Overland Park for three days this June. Over 5,000 people are expected to attend this popular event.
The theme of this year's festival is ‘A Night in Athens’. Guests will be able to enjoy musical performances, see traditionally costumed folk dancers, and try various Greek food dishes. A couple of the groups that are confirmed to appear are the Ikouyennia and the Delta Dynamis Dancers.
There will also be an Athenian marketplace, or ‘plaka’. Vendors will be selling a variety of merchandise taking inspiration from Greece, such as jewelry, clothing, and home decor. In addition, visitors can also take a church tour or listen to a lecture.
Sponsorships are available for local business from $50 up; sponsors will be recognized in the program booklet that everyone attending receives. Gold level sponsors (those that pay $350 or more) will have their name printed on a banner to be displayed at the event.
Organizers will therefore likely be investing in services such as banner printing to help decorate the festival. Overland Park companies are often asked to provide such products for this kind of community celebration.
The Greek Festival is being held at the St. Dionysios Greek Orthodox Church from June 6 to 8. Admission is free. For more information, call 913-341-7373.
