Schererville to teach natural art form

An early May event is giving Schererville residents a way to try a less commonly performed art form while also celebrating a major holiday.

The Mother’s Day Floral Arrangement Class is an activity from Oax Haus, a local coffee house. The experience will be led by an instructor. They will show the group how to put together their own unique flower display piece. After the class, attendees can take their work home to keep, or give it to a loved one.

Materials used to create the arrangements will include a vase, greenery, floral foam, seasonal fresh flowers, and bunch cutters. Guests can use the activity as a selfcare experience or something to do with a loved one for Mother’s Day.

The venue, Oax Haus, is inspired by Oaxacan culture. In addition to the beverages using traditional ingredients and recipes, there are also pastries, other food items, Books, art, and flowers. Oaxaca is an area in Mexico known for its rich history and traditions, as well as the colorful colonial style buildings.

The shop will be running during the class, making the offerings on its menu available for participants to purchase. Many local businesses will use flyer printing to promote their events. Tickets are available through EventBrite. Each will cost $50. The Schererville experience will be taking place between 12:00pm and 2:00pm. The date is set to be May 9th.
