New store to become part of Indianapolis furniture
A furniture store based in St. Louis is opening an outlet in the Indianapolis area
Weekends Only Furniture will take over space in Castleton that formerly housed a Burlington Coat Factory. In addition, the retailer plans to build a facility of 92,000 square feet in area on Center Run Drive. Construction is scheduled to start in January, and the new store will bring at least 40 jobs with it. Weekends Only has already begun looking for new employees.
Taking its name from the fact it is only open on weekends, the company started in 1997. It now has five locations in and around St. Louis. Tom Phillips, the company’s CEO, said opening a store outside the St. Louis area is an important event in Weekends Only's history, and added he and others are thrilled to be coming to the Indianapolis area. He believes shoppers in the area will like the store's concept, and will embrace the company's culture.
The Friday, Saturday and Sunday only hours are not the only thing that sets the store apart from other furniture retailers; it also puts similar items together, rather than setting up model “rooms” as is common in other stores.
Weekends Only managers could work with a flyer printing company to create handouts, complete with coupons, to be distributed near the store on opening day.
