Next month, the Illinois Primary Health Care Association (IPHCA) will hold the Realize and Revitalize: Embracing Maternal and Child Health Symposium intended to discuss how to holistically tackle maternal and child health issues in the state.
The Maternal and Child Health Symposium will invite stakeholders, providers, and community health leaders across the state to discuss strategies to improve the quality of care for mothers and their infants. These strategies will be examined through an integrative care lens and will include collaboration from professionals in the dental, medical, nutritional, and substance use/behavioral health fields. The conference will also offer four hours of CME credit.
Opening remarks will be presented by Dr. Lindsay Weaver, who is State Health Commissioner, and the State of the State Update will feature Eden Bezy, who is Assistant Commissioner. Panel presentations include topics such as high-risk pregnancies, low birth weight infants, infant oral health, substance abuse disorders, and nutrition and breastfeeding.
