Indianapolis to honor 9/11 victims with symbolic ride

This September, the 2024 Freedom Fest Ride will overtake the streets of Downtown Indianapolis as a symbolic way to remember and honor victims and heroes of 9/11.

The Freedom Fest Ride will provide a chance for the community to come together to honor the fallen victims, first responders, soldiers, and veterans involved in 9/11. Organizers encourage people to come out with their motorcycles, cars, vans, and jeeps to join in the memorial ride.

There will be a kickoff ceremony that will feature the national anthem by Grace McKillip, while the Colors will be posted by American Legion Color Guard. The ride will begin and end at the American Legion Post 64, with a stop at the 9/11 Memorial for a ceremony to honor those fallen. The full route has yet to be announced but will last about an hour. The line of vehicles will be escorted by the IMPD motorcycle unit for safety.

Businesses active in the community may choose to sponsor community events like this in various ways from donating money to donating promotional products to be given away at the event.

The 2024 Freedom Ride will take place on September 14, with the ceremony at 2:00 pm and the ride at 2:15 pm. The starting point is at 601 South Holt Road. Ride registration is $40 for all-access pass.
