Local cheese shop to hold traditional cheddar-making class
Next month, Tulip Tree Creamery will offer its Advanced Level 3 Cheddar-Making Class for any Indianapolis cheese connoisseurs who are interested in refining their craft.
Tulip Tree Creamery is a local creamery shop that uses traditional European recipes with a unique twist. It also holds various cheese-making classes for the public. The May class will be for advanced learners who have already mastered the Fresh Mozzarella-Making Class and the Gouda Class.
The class will teach how to use milk to start the cheddaring process, which will create traditionally made cheese curds that can be inserted into a mold and form a small wheel of cheese. This wheel will then need to be aged for four weeks.
The class will be an intensive three-hour workshop, so organizers ask that attendees wear comfortable shoes and bring aprons, along with their own beverages. For refreshments, there will be a complimentary sampler of cheeses and local delicacies during breaks. The shop will also offer a 10% discount on all cheese and butter sales during the class. This may be an ideal opportunity for organizers to hand out business cards to attendees as they craft and shop.
The Advance Cheddar-Making Class is slated for May 1, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Registration is $65, with more information found at Tulip Tree Creamery’s website.
