Splash pads opening up across McHenry County
The hot weather gives kids and frolickers a chance to have fun in the sun, and numerous locations in the McHenry area are opening splash pads to help residents keep cool while in the suburbs.
The sites are centrally located and provide an easy and safe way for parents to keep their kids entertained.
Many of these splash pads are located within aquatic centers and pools. They give families a great way to have family fun days because the sites have several other attractions worth engaging in. The splash pad operators sometimes use banner printing and flyer printing to let people know that they are open.

- Sunset Park’s Splash pad can be found at Lake in the Hills, which is located at 5200 Miller Road. The splash pad here is open every day from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm, including Labor Day. The splash pad is free to use and visitors can also make use of the playground, which is located close to the parking lot.
- Veterans Acres Park has a splash pad located at 431 Walkup Road. Open from 10:00 am through to 7:00 pm, this one is also free to use. People visiting this location can also make use of the nearby nature trail, which goes round a pond that is home to birds, turtles, and frogs.
