Rapper with environmental edge to appear in Barrington
Be the Change! Go Green in Barrington is sponsoring Joey FineRhyme as part of an effort to support sustainable living and environmental causes.
People of all ages from nearby towns such as McHenry are encouraged to attend the event and be entertained as they learn new ways to live in a manner that will help to combat climate change. Ilumen Solar is one of the event’s sponsors and will be hosting a raffle where people can win solar-powered devices.
Joey FineRhyme defines himself as a ‘raptivist’, which means he uses rap as a way to speak out on social issues and motivate the community to take action. He will be entertaining the crowd with freestyle raps and his own original pieces that are high-tempo and loaded with metaphors. His performance will also feature his own custom-built sound system.
A local to Illinois, FineRhyme is also the Executive Director of Climate Cycle. He founded this organization, which works towards educating the next generation on the importance of going green. Climate Cycle is known for its work with Chicago schools and has raised more than $1m for the cause.
