What's Happening in McHenry, IL…

New festival to light up the skies of McHenry County

The first annual Harvard Balloon Fest is taking place next month during Labor Day weekend. Proceeds from this event will be donated to local charities.

For those who are coming from around the area, camping spaces are available. The festival will feature morning and evening balloon launches, nightly balloon glows and a beer tent.

Activities are planned for the festival that will appeal to people of all ages and interests. There will be a zip line, corn hole, and knockerball. Tethered balloon rides will be available for $20. For the kids, there will be inflatables and games to play. Most of these activities have a cost associated with them; for inflatables only, unlimited rides are $18 in advance or $20 at the gate, and for the zip line plus inflatables, the price is $23 or $25.

In addition, musical groups such as 13-Monsters, Time Machine, and Funk City will be performing. Vendors will also be on hand to sell merchandise, and food and drink will be available for purchase.

No doubt people from all over McHenry County will be interested in attending the first year of this event. To advertise, organizers may invest in direct mail marketing services.

The Harvard Balloon Festival will be held at Milky Way Park from September 2 to 4. For the latest information, call 815-943-6468.
