What's Happening in McHenry, IL…

McHenry teenagers nonprofit to host several events

Caden Ringer, a teenager from McHenry, Illinois who started his own nonprofit organization last year, will be hosting two fundraiser events in the coming months.

Home Run Helpers was started by Ringer when he learned that a classmate was not able to afford one of the school’s field trips. Ringer paid for his classmate to attend the field trip and soon came up with the idea to collect presents for less fortunate children.

The organization collects presents for ages 12 to 14 and was able to haul in 500 presents last year, which managed to help 90 children. Ringer hopes to exceed that amount by helping at least 110 children this year.

In order to do this, Home Run Helpers will be hosting two dinner fundraisers for Thanksgiving and
Christmas. The Thanksgiving dinner will be taking place on November 23 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Depot Restaurant in Richmond Illinois. The Christmas Dinner, which will be taking place with Santa, will be occurring on December 10 from 4:30 to 7:30 pm at Smith’s Central Garage in McHenry.
