Local festival celebrates the end of summer

The Summer Sunset Festival is taking place at the end of August, rounding off the sunny season.

A presentation of the village of Lake in the Hills, the festival is set to feature carnival rides, a parade, a car show, and the ‘Melon Propellin'’ competition. The Lake in the Hills Chamber of Commerce is hosting an arts and crafts and business expo to showcase its members. There will also be a 5K run or 2K walk, the Got Talent contest, a horseshoe tournament, and a fireworks display on the last night.

Plenty of musical guests will be appearing during the three-day event, including Class of 68, Petty Cash, and the Abba Salute. Children will be entertained in the Kids’ Korner and, for $10, their parents can take part in a wine tasting event. The cost includes a souvenir glass, a wristband, and five tasting tickets, with extras available for $1 each.

This festival will no doubt attract people from all over, including nearby McHenry. In order to spread the word, organizers of events like this will often invest in flyer printing services.

The Lake in the Hills Summer Sunset Festival is being held from August 29 to 31. Admission to most events is free, although ride tickets are $1 each or $20 for an unlimited ride wristband. To learn more about the event, call 847-960-7460.
