Festival will help to feed the hungry

The Festival of Trees is taking place in McHenry County starting at the end of the month. It is presented by Lake in the Hills Parks and Recreation.

Several trees, trees can be sponsored for $75 each, will be decorated by area nonprofit groups. Visitors then vote on their favorite with nonperishable food donations. The bins will be available from November 30 until December 18.

Santa will arrive early in December and will be in charge of lighting up the Festival of Trees. The same night, children between the ages of two and eight can take part in the Merry and Bright Flashlight night. There will be storytelling, snacks, arts and crafts, and a scavenger hunt for treats and reindeer food. Registration is required and tickets are $5 each.

The festival will also feature a Holiday Market on November 30 so visitors can begin their gift shopping. Child care is available for $5. Vendors can rent tables for $20 for residents and $25 for nonresidents.

McHenry County printing companies may be asked to help advertise these events to ensure a good turnout.

The Festival of Trees will be held at the Village Hall in Lake in the Hills from November 30 until December 18, and Santa will arrive on December 4. Call 847-960-7460 to find out about this event or to become a vendor.
