Drive-in theater set for renovation

Patrons of the McHenry Outdoor Theater, which is the last drive-in the area, can take heart in the knowledge that the theatre will be around for a long time to come, and its opening season is just a couple of months away.

Scott Dehn has operated the theatre for several years. About two months ago, he took up his option to buy the whole property from Rhyan Holdings after saving up enough money, and recently made this public knowledge via social media. He has now stated that there is no longer any threat of redevelopment, saying:

“Things have been going really good and the community has been so supportive of this place. I had a purpose and a goal in keeping people coming to the theater, and to be able to buy it and to prevent something from happening to this theater.”

Dehn now plans to renovate the theater. Some of the improvement projects he is working on include the installation of a new modernized screen, the additions of stone, rock, and gravel to the parking lot, eliminating potholes and putting up speakers on the building’s exterior. After listening to the advice of his patrons, smoking will be limited to the area behind the concession stand. Poster printing is a good way to advertise the renovation of an old installation.

The theater opens on Fridays and Saturdays every week from May until October, and opening day is scheduled for May 1.
