A Barrington staple for pizza is returning next month.
Remember Charlotte's left the downtown area at the beginning of the year. The new location will be at 301 West Northwest Highway where Kooker's used to be. Kooker's was in business for nearly three decades until the restaurant moved to Lake Zurich last year. The menu included Italian beef, gyros, milkshakes and hamburgers.
According to Brian McManus Jr, co-owner of the pizzeria, the opportunity to acquire the old Kooker's location was motivation enough to close Remember Charlotte's temporarily in January. It is close to Lagendorf Park, a popular location, and has a private parking lot. The family friendly restaurant is set to open in the middle of July.
McManus added to his appreciation for the location being on Northwest Highway and having a short proximity to a place where multiple sports games are played from little league to adults. It is similar to the old location in that way.
Remember Charlotte's opened in 2017 on Park Avenue. It was named after Charlotte's Pizza, a pizzeria that closed long ago but was a popular spot when McManus was growing up. His family would go once a week. There will be many exterior and interior changes to the building in order to change it from Kooker's to Remembering Charlotte's, adding a high tech oven able to cook nearly 100 pizzas in an hour.
