Animal lovers in Barrington who want to enjoy the spring weather will want to lace up their running shoes, as a 5K fundraiser is in the works in town.
The Dash for the Dogs, which is presented by Animal House Shelter, has announced an official date for the upcoming 5K and one-mile family run. The event is open to interested parties who want to make a difference, with participants welcome to run or walk. Participants are also welcome to bring their furry companions to join in the fun.
Money raised by this year’s event will benefit the homeless pets being cared for at Animal House Shelter. Competitive runners can participate in the timed run, which will be overseen by J3 Timing. It’s a suitable event for runners of all experience and skill levels. Organizers can use banner printing to design a colorful and memorable banner for the finish line that promotes sponsors and the 5K.
The first two pups to cross the finish line will receive special prizes for their efforts. Participants who register early will receive a commemorative T-shirt. All participating dogs must have up-to-date vaccinations and behave well around people and other pets.
Citizens Park in Barrington will host the 5K fundraiser on Sunday, May 17, with check-in held at the Jewel Tea Pavilion at 6:15 AM. Registration is $35 per person online.
