A new Costco in Meridian will be opening in time for the Christmas shopping season.
The store will be located at the intersection of Ten Mile Road and Chinden Boulevard in North Meridian. Features of this store will be a gas station with 15 double-sided fuel islands and pad sites for possible tenants in the future. It will also be adjacent to a new luxury apartment complex. Banner printing is often used on such sites to announce an official opening date.
As part of the project, Costco will be widening Chinden Boulevard around the store to five lanes. Funds from the Sales Tax Anticipation Revenue program of the state of Idaho will enable Costco to get a rebate on their upfront payments. The program enables a developer to pay for improvements to infrastructure projects in advance, after which a portion of the revenue from the sales tax collected will go back to the developer in the form of a rebate.
Construction began on the store earlier this year and the project is expected to cost $13.95m. It will give the store a presence in the northern part of town which is rapidly growing and provide access to such a store for residents of Horseshoe Bend, Emmett, and other more northern areas.
Costco plans to open the store on Thursday, October 15.
