Scheels is planning to open a new store in Meridian at Ten Mile Crossing.
This will be one of the largest stores in the area, boasting over 85 store-within-a-store specialty shops selling a wide range of items that will include sporting goods, clothing, exercise equipment, and shoes.
It will be branded as an entertainment hub spanning 240,000 square feet. It will have a large saltwater aquarium containing hundreds of fish, a Ferris wheel, 65 feet tall, an interactive arcade, a candy shop, and sports simulators, among other attractions. There will also be a restaurant that will serve sandwiches, soups, coffee, and homemade fudge. Such new stores often turn to flyer printing to provide more details about their offerings and special items.
Scheels originated in 1902 as a hardware store in Minnesota. Since then, it has expanded throughout the Midwest with stores in North Dakota, Minnesota, Montana, and Iowa. This will be the 33rd location of the chain.
Steve M. Scheel, CEO of the company, expressed his excitement about coming to Idaho. He said the company has been looking into the market in the Boise area and believe that it has found the ideal location in Meridian. Scheels will now become a major retail anchor for Ten Mile Crossing.
The store is expected to open in 2024 and employ over 400 people.
