New mixed-use development has potential for Meridian

Brighton Corp. is hoping to develop a new mixed-use community in the southern part of Meridian.

To be known as Pinnacle Meridian, the project will entail several phases that will take place over many years. Mike Wardle with Brighton Corp. said that the project will include residential and neighborhood services in what was once primarily farmland in the southern part of the city.

Commercial space, homes, and many community amenities will be part of the first phase. There will be 13 commercial spaces and 357 residential lots. Among the amenities will be a library and business center, a café, an amphitheater for community gatherings, and a pool with a “tot lot.” A site for a school is also planned. The residential units will feature duplex-style row homes, traditional homes with garages in front, and houses that can be accessed from an alley. There will be models with one and two stories.

The project will require the annexation of 28.35 acres from the City of Meridian and the rezoning of just over 384 acres. Plans of such developments are often created using local printing services.

There will be a hearing at Meridian City Hall in front of planning and zoning at 6:00 pm on Thursday, July 9. Additional input from the public on the project is expected as future phases include the development of more single- and multi-family residential units.
