A new Albertsons store will soon be under construction in Meridian.
As work begins on a location in Star on State Street, the company is beginning its work on a location on Eagle Road in South Meridian. The site will also include other retail establishments and single-family homes.
Kathy Holland, a spokesperson for Albertsons, said the plans for the store have been finalized. Holland added that the wait is now for permits to be approved and once that happens, ground can be broken on the new store. Holland expressed excitement about being a part of the community in that area of Meridian.
The store will span 58,000 square feet and will cost $12.5 million to build. It will have a drive-up lane for the pharmacy. It is also planned at some point to have an Albertsons Express fuel center at the site, but a building permit is still needed for that project. Many kinds of printed materials, including Flyers and Brochures, are often sourced from local Print shops prior to the opening of such stores.
Albertsons was founded in 1939 with its first store in Boise. It is one of the Albertsons Companies which is a food and drug retailer that is one of the largest in the United States. The company has stores in 35 states and the District of Columbia, with 25 locations alone in the Treasure Valley.
