Meridian to celebrate winter solstice with musical event

Make Music Winter will be coming to Meridian next month.

This free outdoor musical celebration on the winter solstice is the winter equivalent of Make Music Day, which celebrates the summer solstice on June 21.

In Meridian, Make Music Winter will feature the Holly Jolly Caroling Elf Jamboree. Santa’s elves will be joining the jolly fellow with songs of the season and festive celebrations. There will be caroling, music, and Christmas tunes on the kazoo, as well as the opportunity to meet Santa Claus.

Print shops are often called upon to create printed materials for display to make such events known throughout a community.

The NAMM Foundation, which promotes and supports music making and music education for people of all abilities and ages, works with the Make Music Alliance, a non-profit organization, to present the event. President of the Alliance, Aaron Friedman, said that this is a national event launched last year, and it was immediately embraced by people across the country. There are now over 30 cities involved in the event to help bring joyful musical events to their community on the day of the winter solstice.

Make Music Winter will take place on Saturday, December 21 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at Dunkley Music in Meridian. The event is free and open to the public.
