Meridian school makes plans for new building

Plans for a new campus have been submitted by a charter school in Meridian.

Gem South Charter School is looking to build a two-story campus that will span 45,000 square feet to address its needs for more space. It is working with Henrickson Architecture on this project.

The layout of the school will bring the most value to the community and the school district. Focus groups were used to determine the details of individual areas in the school.

There will be pre-finished metal panels, textured cement board lap siding (which is painted) and a storefront system made of anodized aluminum used for entrances to the building. Throughout the building there will be hues of gray, blue, and brown. These colors were selected to highlight the natural surroundings.

The main façade will have accent trims that run horizontally and vertically. There will be canopies at the main entrance to the campus that will serve as the focus for the design of the building. The height of the canopies will be such that the spaces on the second floor will have natural solar light.

The Logo Design of the Gem Public School will be on the north side of the building and graphic design will be used to create Signs near the corners of the main entrance at East Lake Hazel Road and South Peak Avenue.
