Development recommended for approval in Meridian

The Planning and Zoning Commission of Meridian has recommended the approval of Apex Zenith, a new development along Lake Hazel and Meridian Roads.

Apex Zenith is the main commercial component of the Pinnacle development by Brighton Corp. of Meridian. The site spans 149.4 acres and will have approximately 100,000 square feet of office space and 446,000 square feet of commercial space. Jon Wardle, president of development for Brighton, said that conversations have been held with different users who are eager to occupy the space. One of the bids solicited has been for a new Costco at the property. The store and roadway improvements would be one of the first steps taken on the project.

The next step will be to have more retail and commercial space as well as medium- and high-density housing projects. Details on these will need to be presented to the Planning and Zoning Commission, Wardle said, and added that some of the details on these projects have not yet been planned and are still unknown.

Flyer printing can be used to inform residents of such potential projects and their benefits for a city.

Members of the commission have said they support the plan as it would bring services to part of the city where they are needed and would reduce the need for people living south of Interstate 84 to travel north. The Meridian City Council still needs to approve the project.
