Suwanee organizes annual tree chip

Once the winter holidays have come and gone, Suwanee will be kicking off 2026 with an event that will encourage everyone to “Bring One for the Chipper.”

Residents who would like to dispose of their natural holiday tree in an environmentally friendly way will be able to do so when they participate in this city-planned event. It will be on offer starting in late December, and it will continue on until the end of January.

The tree chip is being offered as a component of the larger “treecycling campaign,” which has been undertaken by the city as part of the state's “Keep Georgia Beautiful" program. Last year, it turned almost 1,200 trees into mulch, which was then used in planting throughout the city. The function will be held at Sims Lake Park, and those interested have been asked to ensure all decorations, stands, and lights have been removed.

To help make the activity accessible, there will be volunteers on hand on Saturday, January 3 to help unload the trees. This service will be available on one day only. Keeping a public function organized may require custom designed signage, and a local poster printing company will be able to step forward.

The opportunity will run from December 26 until the end of January. The drop-off point will be set up at 4600 Suwanee Dam Road.
