Many hands make light work, and that’s the spirit behind a Suwanee environmental stewardship activity.
Suwanee Creek Park will be getting some TLC in mid-March, and it's part of a schedule of monthly cleanups planned for the area. These take place at rivers, creeks and other tributaries that feed into the Chattahoochee River.
The organizers of the clean-up explained that , while it may be outside the boundary of where the projects usually take place, it's important to clean up Suwanee Creek Park as this prevents pollution further downstream. Everyone will pick up litter and debris and restore the creekside and other riparian areas, and everyone is asked to bring a filled water bottle and wear closed toed shoes and pants along with a long sleeve shirt. All volunteers, including the Junior Cleanup crew members must be at least 10 years old, and there is no registration fee.
Community clean ups and other volunteer driven activities can make a big impact. Organizers often turn to local printing services companies to supply them with sign-up sheets, waivers as well as small , themed Promotional Products to hand out to thank the helpers for their support.
The March Second Saturday Sweep will be giving Suwanee Creek a good tidy on March 14th. Volunteers will be working from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm, and those wishing to register are invited to visit the Chattahoochee Parks website.
