Sandy Springs awards six figures in grants

Sandy Springs has recently granted $160,000 in funding to support non-profit arts and recreation programs that are specifically aimed at serving underserved and low-income communities.

Horizons Atlanta has been awarded $15,000 to continue supporting first graders participating in the Holy Innocents' Episcopal School’s summer learning program. The Northside Youth Organization will get $15,000 to use on scholarships for children, covering registration fees and necessary sports equipment for a selected sport. Additionally, the Healthy Youth USA Foundation will get $15,000 to continue its summer camp program catering to elementary-age children.

Horizons Atlanta will also get $25,000 to provide support to a new group of rising first graders in the Holy Innocents' Episcopal School summer learning program. Catalyst Sports is getting $25,000 to offer river programming for disabled individuals, and Sandy Springs Youth Sports is getting $25,000 to cover registration fees and sports equipment for new youth sports camps and clinics, aimed at providing free opportunities for local youth. Los Niños Primero has been awarded $25,000 to offer paddle, swim, and wilderness discovery sessions to low-income families in the Latino community in partnership with Paddle4Tomorrow, Chattahoochee Riverkeeper, Chattahoochee Nature Center, and Solidarity Sandy Springs. The Healthy Youth USA Foundation will also expect to receive $25,000 to provide scholarships for summer camp programs.
