In spite of delays, postponements, and cancellations, the popular Concerts by the Springs series has some events on the schedule.
Steely Dan fans have a concert just for them coming up, when Hot Licks & Rhetoric (HL&R) comes to Roswell. The nine-piece band is based in Atlanta, and is a Steely Dan tribute band. The group was created in 2017 by Kai Vaughn, a guitarist, and “Shreeps,” a singer/songwriter. More members joined, and the group is now dedicated to celebrating Steely Dan by capturing the feel and sound of the original group. When events like this are scheduled, poster printing can be used to provide publicity.
Steely Dan was founded in 1972 by Walter Becker and Donald Fagan, who formed the core of the band. They worked with other musicians on an irregular basis, and were most popular during the 1970s, though fans have remained loyal. “Rikki Don't Lose That Number” is their biggest hit, and they sold over 40 million albums in their career. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001.
A review of HL&R says:
“OH MY GOSH! This is an absolutely phenomenal band! . . . We felt like we were at the real Steely Dan concert! I would recommend this band to anyone! They are just simply magical & illuminating! Rock on!”
The tribute band will be at City Springs, on the Entertainment Lawn, on August 30 at 7:00 pm.
